The American Indian Community Housing Organization is changing the narrative in our community by asserting political and cultural ties to the land and forging a commitment to build sustainable, community-owned practices. AICHO is symbolic of a resurgence in Indigenous community and cultural power.

AICHO offers endless programming for everyone from youth to elders, always with an intersectional approach that uses art and culture to cultivate change.

The City of Duluth has approximately 30 boards and commissions, providing valuable input and leadership through commissions such as the African American Heritage Commission, the Duluth Human Rights Commission, the Duluth NQT2SLGBIA Commission, the Indigenous Commission, the Commission on Disabilities, and more.

These commissions are frequently looking for community members to serve as commissioners and to share their varied experiences and viewpoints to shape the direction of these commissions.

Founded in 2000, The Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial, Inc. is dedicated to remembering the painful past of Duluth and ensuring that it is not only not forgotten, but that we grow as a community from our tragic past.

As a BIPOC-led organization, the DAI celebrates the cultural confluence in Northeast Minnesota and offers a comprehensive list of local BIPOC artists. This is an invitation to admire the work of these artists and to contract their services for your art needs.

The EEAC recognizes the historical conditions and barriers that have prevented opportunity and academic success in learning for students based on race, culture, ethnicity, income, and other social conditions. This committee works to eliminate structural and institutional barriers to education for all students and is always seeking input from a diverse range of perspectives, communities and organizations.

This organization’s mission is to empower the Black community by reconstructing socio-cultural narratives and unapologetically embracing what it means to be Black, both historically and present day. Family Freedom Center serves everyone from youth to elders with everything from entrepreneurship to a community garden.

Centered on whole-family wellness, the mission of Family Rise Together is to help strengthen family unity by engaging fathers in their children’s lives to establish family values, social roles, and participation in the community.

Offering robust programming from mental health and wellness to creating a small business, this organization provides a safe environment for fathers to actively participate in the well-being of their children and family.

Mentor North celebrates youth and supports their families through one-on-one mentorship and community engagement. Mentor North has taken extensive steps to ensure the dignity of all people and to celebrate youth and families’ individual stories.

This organization welcomes mentors from a variety of identities and backgrounds, with the goal of creating a vibrant and inclusive mentorship community.

The Duluth Chapter of the NAACP is committed to dismantling racism and disrupting inequality to create a society where all people can truly be free. The following committees are always accepting members looking to tackle the issues that impact Black America: communications, criminal justice, economics, education, health and environmental equity, membership and event planning, and the young adult committee.
