Job Summary

**This position will be based out of the Duluth CareerForce office.**

This position exists to provide Career Services and CareerForce information to job seekers through orientations, group instruction, and one-on-one assistance (online, over the phone and in-person) to ensure seekers are empowered to make informed career choices. This program prioritizes serving Unemployment Insurance Applicants, economically disadvantaged populations, and Veterans. The incumbent provides career guidance consulting, assessments, and resources to job seekers. The position will provide training on how to seek employment through job search classes, resume writing classes and other employment-related workshops both online and in-person. The incumbent will provide resources, so job seekers have access to information and tools necessary to secure appropriate employment, and employers have access to tools and information to successfully recruit and retain employees. This position also helps businesses access services available to them and connect directly to the job seekers the program serves. This position is telework eligible and is required to work three (3) days in office and two (2) days telework after a three (3) month training period. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment and may telework from anywhere in Minnesota or a neighboring state. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.

This position would include regional travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or related field as determined by the agency.

OR

One (1) year of experience in a role providing employment and training services, case management, or a similar role as determined by the agency.

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

Communication skills to:

  • Connect career seekers to work force training opportunities to advance skills.
  • Create and deliver presentations for adult career seekers, to be offered virtual and in person.

Ability to:

  • Form and grow connections with community partners such as educational institutions, employers, and supportive services to assist career seekers in gaining employment.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and goals.

Organizational skills to manage, track, and report expenses, financial transactions, and using Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel to track expenses.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or related field as determined by the agency AND one (1) year of related work experience.

Experience using WorkForce One, CareerForceMN.com, Minnesotaworks.net, SharePoint, WebEx, Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Experience providing career guidance and coaching.

Skill in communicating in a secondary language.
