Job Summary:

The Director of Community Impact and Partnerships is a key part of our Leadership Team (also including the President, Finance Director, and Development Director). The Director of Community Impact and Partnerships champions community leadership initiatives; seeks and participates in our impact investment opportunities; leads our community connections; and oversees our grantmaking and scholarships, supervising the Community Impact Specialist and Senior Community Impact Associate.

The Director of Community Impact and Partnerships will play an integral role in leading the development, implementation, and scaling of our initiatives and partnerships, ensuring that we continually improve how we manage and steward the work, while helping to expand our efforts for deeper lasting impact.

The Director of Community Impact and Partnerships leads the strategic development and implementation of collective impact initiatives at the Community Foundation, driving positive change through innovative programs, partnerships, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will be based in the Duluth/Superior area and will have a passion for social impact, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of our regions’ needs.

Key Responsibilities:

· Relationships: Support our mission, work and partnerships by representing the Community Foundation at events in the Duluth/Superior area and throughout our region.

· Collective Impact: Develop and execute a comprehensive collective impact strategy aligned with our mission and goals.

Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with community members and leaders to understand needs and drive collaborative solutions.
Impact/Mission Investing: Play a key role in advancing our commitment to impact investing. This involves helping to identify and manage investments that not only generate financial returns but also create significant social and environmental benefits. Work with the Leadership Team and others to develop and implement innovative investment strategies that align with our mission, ensuring that our resources are used to drive transformative change in our communities.
Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and funders to enhance our effectiveness and reach.
Community Impact Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the Community Impact Team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
BJEDI (Belonging, Justice Equity, Diversity, Inclusion): Must demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing belonging, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the Community Foundation’s work. This includes understanding and addressing systemic inequities that affect historically marginalized communities and fostering a culture where every voice is valued. The Director will play a key role in ensuring grantmaking, partnerships, and community engagement strategies reflect the diverse perspectives and needs of the community it serves.
Grant Management: Manage the grant-making and scholarship process, including identifying funding opportunities and monitoring outcomes.
Policy: Work with partners to support policy changes that can further advance community thriving.
This role requires availability outside of office hours for community engagement opportunities as well as travel across our region for both events and partnering.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of five years of experience in community development, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful community programs.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making.
Experience with grant-writing and management.
· Proven track record of advocating for equity and inclusion, as well as the ability to facilitate difficult conversations about race, privilege, and social justice. Must be passionate about building a more just and equitable community through intentional and strategic philanthropy.

Knowledge of local, regional, and national funding sources.
Passion for collective impact and community development.
Excellent computer skills and experience, including MS Office products, database management experience and advanced personal computer skills.
Demonstrated expertise in the nonprofit landscape.
Supervision

The Director of Community Impact and Partnerships reports directly to the President/CEO of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation.

FLSA Status:

Hybrid, full-time, exempt 40 hours per week

Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary range: $80,000-$85,000 annually
