Duluth Area Chamber Board Update
This year, the Duluth Area Chamber’s Board of Directors was full, and nominations were not necessary. This was due to a bylaw amendment changing the term schedule of directors. Next year, once again, there will be an open call. However, we did have two special circumstance cases that, per our board policy and procedure, needed review. You can find these candidates, nominated to be added to the Board, below.
- Dr. Nick Van Deelen – Aspirus St. Luke’s
- Brianna Vanderheyden – Holiday Inn, Lion Hotel Group
Duluth Area Chamber members can object to the special circumstance Slate of Candidates by submitting a petition, which must include the signatures of 25 members in good standing. The petition must be delivered to the Chamber office at 5 West First Street, Suite 101, Duluth, MN 55802, by noon on Monday, August 26.
The objection would then be considered by the Chamber’s Board at the board meeting scheduled for August 27.
If no objection is filed by August 27, the Nominating Committee’s special circumstance Slate of Candidates will be declared selected by the Board at the August 27 board meeting.
Per our by-laws, these Board-related updates are required to be made public and shared with membership. Traditionally, we have shared these updates through the printed monthly publication, the Xpress newsletter. Going forward, we will share these updates in our weekly e-newsletter, the Chamber Connection. If you’re not already subscribed to our newsletter, we encourage you to subscribe to stay up to date on updates like these, and all the latest news with our Chamber and within our regional business community.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
