RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather cost information from various stakeholders to provide budgeted costs for capital projects.
- Review and analyze capital project data and tools—including actual, committed, and anticipated costs, along with project schedules—to ensure accurate forecasting.
- Develop and maintain the work breakdown structure in accordance with project needs and required systems.
- Identify financial elements and implement controls surrounding complex project procurement contracts.
- Analyze reports on labor hours, material and equipment usage, and actual costs for accuracy and compliance with company policies and contract documents.
- Track invoices and proposed change orders to ensure costs are captured in project forecasts.
- Facilitate the capital project change request process.
- Complete forecast updates, purchase requests, and change orders in required systems per company policies.
- Prepare regular budget and forecast status updates and ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Perform earned value measurements and maintain cost data to monitor project health.
- Complete project closeout activities to ensure timely closure.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders.
- Assist with various project team activities as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Preferred areas of study include Business Administration, Analytics, Engineering, Accounting, or related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Four or more years of job-related experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employee’s position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee’s home office. This position will report any of the following locations: Duluth, Cloquet, Cohasset, Eveleth, Little Falls, or Virginia, MN.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or other data analytics software preferred.
- Proficiency with Oracle, Maximo, Power Plan, and Autodesk Construction Cloud preferred.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- The expected annual compensation range for this position is $67,000 – $84,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
